This is a Granite City Press-Record clipping taped to a program for the Golven Gloves Championships on Feb. 25 and 26, 1959, at Kiel Auditorium. Two young men represented Venice in the tournament. Ed Foley, 126 pounds, (third from left) won his bout and Golden Gloves title in the first round. Lloyd Patterson, 118 pounds, (second from left) was not as successful. Click on the photo to make it easier to read. We are unsure why the Post-Dispatch dateline is included.

This is a closeup of the patch on a purple satin jacket Foley was given for his championship. A small gold boxing glove can be seen near the bottom center of the photo, also awared to Foley.
